The students are part of the Amgen Biotech Experience, an international outreach and education program offered by the Thousand Oaks-based biomedical corporation. The program allows high school science teachers to borrow $25,000 worth of equipment and materials to offer professional-level laboratory experiments instead of standard biology textbook fare.
